The Bulgarian youth volunteers Maria and Nikol decided to perform some information campaign activities in their town of Tutrakan. During two sequential events, they shared with peers what they had learned in the ‘Quest in Sicily’ training.
This is what Nikol says: ‘The training in Italy was a great experience for me. It was something new, interesting, and educational. After the instructional lectures, I started looking at nature from a different perspective. We visited a huge botanical garden full of various plants that I had never encountered before. I met many new people, had an interesting cultural exchange, and enjoyed pleasant time together.’
Then, for Europe Day, they developed a presentation on the European Union, which talks about the principles of the European democracy , what it means to be an European citizen and what the EU values are. The two youth volunteers performed an information event with their classmates to encourage and motivate them to become active citizens.
These events are part of the Campaign ’16 Days of Activism’. The team designed marketing pieces on the project aims and activities to disseminate among different audiences and reach more young people in Turakan.
That’s how using the peer-to-peer Nikol and Maria, and their trainer Lidiya Svetoslavova a managed to reach more than 40 young people in Tutrakan, some of whom joined the web page https://paralel-silistra.net/active and the facebook group as followers.
The BeActive project has been funded with support from the Erasmus+ Program of EU via the Bulgarian NA, project number: 2022-1-BG01-KA210-YOU-000083772.
