Europe Day, May 9, is a special day for us. On this day in 1950, the Schuman Declaration laid the foundations of a united Europe. Fifteen teachers and students from the Silistra Branch of the Angel Kanchev University of Ruse celebrated this holiday together.
The Bulgarian team of the Erasmus+ project “BeActive” organised this memorable event under the title ‘Europe Closer to Us’, part of the Campaign ’16 Days of Activism’. The event started with a fun activity. The attendees participated in the “EU and Me” quiz specially prepared by the European Commission, Directorate-General for Communication. Those who correctly answered the questions received prizes.
The participants in the youth training program “Quest in Sicily,” Jeren Aref and Inna Marinova, had prepared entertaining presentations about their experiences and lessons learned during this activity. They also shared the skills they developed thanks to participating in the “Active” project, coordinated by the NGO “Parallel-Silistra.”
Dr Diana Bebenova, the project leader, presented a short film about the challenges and emotions the young people faced during the “Survivor in the Bosco Andjimbe Forest” challenge. Continuing the topic of the opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ program, Associate Professor Diana Zhelezova explained how students could apply to study at a foreign university. With this initiative, as Associate Professor Rumyana Lebedova highlighted, teachers and students together demonstrated their support for a democratic and prosperous Europe!
The BeActive project has been funded with support from the Erasmus+ Program of EU via the Bulgarian NA, project number: 2022-1-BG01-KA210-YOU-000083772.
