An international youth campaign, “16 Days of Activism” has kicked off this April 2023, led by the “BeActive” consortium. It will run in the four project countries, Bulgaria, Spain, Italy, and Portugal, until February 2024. The campaign is a series of national events engaging at least 200 young people offline and 220 online.
Aims of the campaign
It aims to promote the free creative expression of young people in putting into practice their ideas for protecting the environment, democratic participation, biodiversity, sustainability, cultural issues, and EU values. It seeks to unite youths, allow them to have a say in the democratic process locally and nationally, following the European values and Human Rights Declaration.
How is the campaign organised
16 young people from the four participating countries will coordinate the campaign. To do that, they will improve their competencies as activists in a training program in Sicily at the end of April. Then, these newly trained leaders will empower 60 workshop attendees and, later, 200 youth volunteers to perform local campaign events.
Campaign publications
To publicize these initiatives, the Partner organizations and the activists will use the Wiki Activism platform to upload visual stories of the events, giving young people a chance to be heard and understood. To inspire other organizations, the project partners have developed and published the ‘16 Days of Activism’ – Guide to National Actions and Events. This Guide explains how to organize small-scale campaigns, promote them offline and online at the national and European Union levels. It also provides good examples of such events. Those interested can download the Guide from the project website.
The “BeActive” project is a joint effort of four NGOs – leading partner ‘Parallel-Silistra’ in Bulgaria, the Association ‘Bosco Angimbe’ in Italy, Creativa Association in Spain, and European Institute “For Citizens” in Portugal. The Erasmus+ program financially supports the project.
