On September 15, the world celebrates the International Day of Democracy – a day that reminds us of the values of freedom, equality, and citizen participation in public life.
Established by the United Nations, this day highlights the importance of democratic principles for sustainable development, peace, and security. It is a moment to reflect on each person’s role in building a fairer and more responsible society.
Democracy and peace go hand in hand – true democracy can thrive only in conditions of peace, and peace is achieved through dialogue, trust, and respect for human rights.
The topic of democracy is also a key focus of the project “Youth for Democracy: Act4Climate,” implemented by the NGO Parallel–Silistra and funded by the Erasmus+ Programme. As part of the project, upcoming youth workshops will actively engage participants in democratic processes and sustainable climate solutions.
