9“Summer School on children’s rights” was held in early July 2014.

“Les” hotel in Razgrad was host of the Summer School and its stakeholders were children from different ethnic backgrounds from the region of Silistra. The leaders of interactive educational games on children’s rights were Tsvetelina Manolova and Martina Hristova. Their teaching skills and the methodology united the diverse group of children and turned it into a cohesive team. In this multiethnic environment participants discussed issues related to discrimination, disregard for minority rights and the right of choice.

The final activity at the summer school was the play “Thumbelina” through which children showed how many of their rights are violated on a daily basis. After the final performance, the participants reminded that besides rights, we all have responsibilities in society as well, among which tolerance of differences.

The emotions and lessons learned from the Summer School were best expressed by a teenager from the village of Iskra: “ I liked a lot the summer school because although we were all different, we were together. I now have many new friends from Silistra. “
